DescriptionThe Stainless Steel - Fabricator/Welder is an advanced welding, grinding, and fabrication position. This position is for a technically skilled individual with high attention to detail and quality. An associate needs to be efficient/effective and be able to meet production hours while maintaining world-class quality. The fabricator is responsible for adhering to the production schedule, and ensuring parts are properly constructed. An associate must be able to meet ASME standards.ResponsibilitiesEnsure all safety procedures, policies, and work practices are followed, including reporting incidents, injuries, and illnesses to a supervisor.Demonstrate a positive attitude and collaborate effectively with colleagues.Wear all necessary PPE, such as steel-toe boots, gloves, eye protection, ear protection, and protective suits.Be able to work independently with minimal supervision.Oversee production of 1-4 personnel and perform quality checks as needed.Mark bending and cutting lines onto workpieces.Design and assemble templates and fixtures.Optimize workflows and adhere to production schedules.Interpret blueprints, weld symbols, weld and material finish, required tolerances, and other written instructions.Select suitable welding base materials, filler wires, and gas.Prepare the product to be welded by cutting, drilling, tapping, and grinding.Align components using measuring tools.Set up a welder and understand parameters.Weld parts in various positions using manual and semi-automatic welding equipment.Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures for accuracy.Create quality finishes using hand and power tools.Operate and troubleshoot equipment, and report any issues to management.QualificationsEducation and Experience:High school diploma or equivalent. 3 years minimum proven experience as a welder and fabricator (TIG and MIG weld types required) with in-depth knowledge of welding methods and practices. Successful completion of required BSI weld testing (ASME). Technical or professional certification (AWS) is preferred but not required.Knowledge and Understanding:Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical documents, and drawings.Knowledge of safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (safety glasses, face shield, boots, gloves, etc.)Skills and Physical Abilities:Outstanding attention to detail.Strong mechanical aptitude.Ability to walk, bend, and stoop on a regular basis.Ability to lift, twist, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, sit, and climb on an occasional basis.Lifting and carrying objects up to 50 lbs.Able to stand and work for long periods of time (8-10 hours).Ability to weld in a variety of positions.Constructive Exchange:Has the ability to solicit, process, and integrate inputs and ideas from peers and management. Recognizes areas of conflict or disagreement and deals with them through open and honest dialogue. Effectively provides feedback.TechnologyHave a working understanding of production equipment including electrical and manual tools (saws, squares, calipers, etc.) and any computer use as required.Mathematical:A strong understanding of mathematical principles.
