Summary:
Functions in collaborative practice with physician(s) in private office setting for medically complex patients. Autonomously performs patient assessment, diagnosis, and intervention according to approved protocols. Supports physician to develop and maintain patients. Collaborates with specialties and maintains continuity of care. Provides office coverage for physician(s) during periods of absence. Prescribes a variety of modalities to meet wellness and illness needs, up to and including hospital admission/discharge and prescriptive authority. Supervises private office clinical personnel as needed.
Education/Experience:
Advanced Practice Registered Nurses Masters Degree in Nursing as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse. Minimum 2 years of pediatric nursing experience or 2 years experience as an FNP in a primary care setting strongly preferred
Physician Assistants Masters Degree in Physician Assistant Studies strongly preferred Minimum of two years Pediatric primary/specialty or acute care setting experience OR 2 years experience in related allied health field (i.e. family practice setting with heavy component of pediatric patients) strongly preferred. .
Certification/Licensure:
Advanced Practice Registered Nurses Current Texas professional registered nurse licenseCurrent Texas professional advance practice registered nurse licenseRecognition from the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners as an Advanced Practice Nurse.Certification as Pediatric or Family Practice Nurse Practitioner.Current Basic Life Support (CPR) requiredCurrent Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required (as of October 1, 2019)
