Aquent has an EXCITING opportunity for a Design Systems Designer! We have 5 openings for Native App (iOS & Android) and 1 for Web Design Systems.
This position is 100% Remote - core working hours in CST
In order to be considered for this role, you must:
We are looking for several designers who have an affinity for UI/visual design and have expertise with design systems. You will act as a go-between for the train designers and design system teams. You will work to build out native components on behalf of the team they are embedded with but are not responsible for feature delivery. You will primarily educate and coach team members on the use of components in their design work. As a bonus, they should help elevate the visual design polish through creative reviews and check-ins with designers.
The Senior Design Systems Designer works closely with a cross-functional team to solve complex business challenges. They are an advocate for users with their foundational knowledge in native user-centered design and visual design.
Candidates for this role demonstrate exceptional visual design craft, a mastery of native platform best practices and interactions, creative problem-solving and curiosity, comfort navigating ambiguity, proactive collaboration, and good communication skills. They should feel comfortable working independently and take the initiative to plan their work against a defined goal.
This role will work hand-in-hand with other disciplines and stakeholders to scale our visual design and design system components across multiple platforms and build visual consistency in each experience. The ideal candidate will take on hands-on design responsibilities and thrive working independently with limited direction. Partnering within teams to evangelize the benefits of a design system as well as share expertise in native patterns, you will provide regular design feedback to partners and designers on all aspects of design related to building and maintaining a best-in-class enterprise design system. This role supports the Digital Solutions within the Digital Experience Design Organization, and reports into the Extension Library team.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with design peers, product, business and technology partners to ensure shared understanding of business and user goals and to ensure that were solving the right problem, the right way.
Work with input from partners and design leads and managers, create components to validate ideas.
Work with our Design System and brand style guide to deliver high quality, polished user interface designs, assets, and specs.
Educate design team members on native best practices and correct use of components and the Design System for delivery and hand-off to engineering.
Collaborate with others to design and define breakthrough user experiences, drawing inspiration from research, user goals, and competitive/comparative analysis.
Create prototypes for usability testing, design user interfaces and visuals for native, responsive web, and/or mobile platforms.
Partner with content strategists and accessibility/inclusive designers to ensure all work is compliant with our brand, content, and accessibility guidelines.
Conduct design reviews and confidently communicate decision-making rationale to team members and stakeholders at all levels of the organization
Coordinate and partner with engineering to handoff designs, provide specifications and QA support through to launch of components.
Required qualifications:
Minimum 7 years experience in blended UX/UI design
Native application design experience (iOS and Android)
Experience designing complex patterns and components for contribution to an enterprise design system
Expert-level Figma skills; experience collaborating in Miro
Experience leading, mentoring and coaching designers
Proven experience in driving and delivering design from initial concepts all the way to hand-off and successful launch
Ability to work closely with development partners and engineers to ensure designs and patterns are implemented correctly
Strong portfolio of work including examples of mobile web, desktop, native app and other digital experiences
Understanding of design systems and applied experience in designing based on an enterprise design system
Understanding of component-based design
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to align team members around the ideal digital experience and gain support and commitment
Experience in designing and delivering work from initial concepts all the way to successful market launches
Knowledge of HTML, CSS and other web technologies
Awareness of how native mobile technical restraints can influence design choices
Experience working within an agile methodology
Experience in UI design including a strong grasp on visual hierarchy, spacing, typography, Gestalt principles, and principles of visual composition
Knowledgeable about Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1 AA minimum) and able to collaborate with Accessibility team to arrive at solutions that are inclusive and accessible
Education
Bachelor's degree in Design, User Experience, Graphic Design, Information Design, Product Design, Human Factors or equivalent/relevant work experience
The target hiring compensation range for this role is $66 to $72 per hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location. Additional benefits offered may include; medical health insurance and dental insurance, life insurance, and eligibility to participate in 401k plan with company match.
