Corteva Agriscience has an exciting opportunity for a Biotech Compliance Specialist. The role will be based at our Johnston, IA or Indianapolis, IN location.
As part of the Compliance team within Global Biological Permitting and Compliance Team (GBPC), the North America Biotech Compliance Specialist will work with NA government agencies to understand their regulatory requirements and partner with internal stakeholders and third-party contractors to develop and maintain a robust compliance framework for Corteva that includes but is not limited to IT tools, government required reporting, compliance protocol development and implementation, compliance trainings, and more. An ideal candidate will understand risk management, have attention to detail, be able to communicate effectively, and have previous experience with regulated biotechnology or working under regulated conditions.
What You'll Do:
+ Develop and maintain understanding of applicable North American regulations relating to the use, movement, and field testing of regulated biological materials.
+ Provide oversight needed to achieve compliance with NA government agency regulations, permit conditions, shipping guidelines and internal requirements.
+ Coordinates assigned, cross functional processes to maintain compliance with applicable government regulations and internal Corteva business standards.
+ Develop and maintain relationships with regulators and Corteva employees to facilitate regulated biological material use, movement, and field testing.
+ Builds robust internal networks to understand business needs and then formulates compliance and stewardship processes and procedures that balance operational freedom with compliance and stewardship goals.
+ Develop, implement, and maintain appropriate regulatory compliance policies, protocols and training needed to sustain compliance and support employees responsible for compliance.
+ Maintains and supports the use and development of IT tools to manage regulatory compliance.
+ Participate in the design and implementation of IT systems that enhance regulatory compliance, records management, and stewardship of biological materials.
+ Reports key metrics regarding regulatory compliance to government agencies and Corteva leadership.
+ Provides technical and stewardship support for regulated shipping and field trials across N. America.
+ Participate on ad hoc teams developing regulatory and stewardship strategies for regulated biological materials.
+ Applies careful communications concepts.
Qualifications
What Skills You Need:
+ BS/BA degree in life science, agronomy, biology, ecology, microbiology, biochemistry, or closely related field preferred.
+ 5+ years of experience working with or managing regulated biology, stewardship, or closely related field.
+ Research and/or regulatory and/or process management experience supporting seed or crop protection platforms helpful.
+ Demonstrated project management skills for working with multidisciplinary groups managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
+ Experience providing effective coaching to employees.
+ Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail required.
+ Demonstrated ability to influence and persuade others without authority.
+ Experience creating best management practice documents/protocols.
+ Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience.
+ Demonstrated ability to partner, work cooperatively and influence in a team environment.
+ Demonstrated strong written and oral skills.
