Light Metal Fabrication & Assembler T - 1st Shift
Job Type Full-time Description **1st Shift Position**

**SUMMARY:** Learns all activities required to effectively lay out work, set-up appropriate machines or equipment to meet or exceed fabrication, assembly, and customer requirements per design specifications and published schedules. Must demonstrate an aptitude of to efficiently utilize resources to minimize scrap, materials, and labor.
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:** includes the following. Other duties may be assigned within this classification.
Must strictly adhere to published company I.S.O. guidelines and procedures.
Maintains and turns in accurate daily labor reports and raw material sheets.
Must strictly adhere to published Company safety guidelines and procedures.
Must supply own hand tools per published list.
Becomes familiar with the operational aspects of all equipment assigned to the area, especially the various safety aspects such as lockout/tagout, etc.
Becomes familiar with and gains an operational understanding of all assigned equipment procedures, capabilities, and capacities.
Must demonstrate an aptitude to read, interpret, and process all orders utilizing standard documentation such as blueprints, sketches, bills of materials, cut lists, routings, sales orders, or other authorized forms of instructions.
Must demonstrate an aptitude for how to inspect and assess customer returned parts or products and advise management as to the most effective solution.
Must show ability to work with close tolerances.
Must demonstrate an understanding of how to verify various raw or processed materials according to: type, gauge, sizing, or dimension.
Must demonstrate an aptitude for the use of common, generally accepted measuring devices applicable to the area as required.
Must demonstrate an understanding of how to select, set-up, and adjust miscellaneous hand tools and equipment.
Must demonstrate an understanding of how to plan layout, parts positioning, component fit-up, assembly sequence and equipment necessary to complete job.
Must demonstrate an understanding of how to work from blueprints to build various types of Hot Zone assemblies to required specifications. This entails the installation of shield packages, insulation, proper fit of ceramic and graphite parts or any other parts as required and documented by engineering.
Must demonstrate an understanding of how to dismantle, straighten, reshape, re-assemble, or rebuild customer owned Hot Zones, components or assemblies to meet specifications.
Must demonstrate an understanding of how to work from blueprints to cut and install insulation using required tooling and protective safety devices.
Must demonstrate an understanding of how to verify proof of conformance of finished product to specifications.
Must be able to follow oral and/or written instructions.
Must demonstrate an understanding of how to safely operate overhead cranes, fork trucks, handtrucks, or other various equipment to move material or product.
Must demonstrate an understanding of the principals, capacities, and safety aspects of how to properly select, attach, and move materials and/or equipment with the appropriate lifting devices such as chains, clevices, or straps.
Must demonstrate an understanding of how to perform simple upkeep and/or cleaning of equipment.
Must demonstrate an understanding of stock locations and store excess material properly and in a timely manner.
Maintains housekeeping standards in compliance with established company policies.
Must be able to work with supervision and/or leadmen to accomplish any given task.
Assists others as required.

**EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:** High school diploma or general education degree (G.E.D.) and a minimum of 1 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
**LANGUAGE SKILLS:** Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and comprehend all forms of written and/or verbal instructions. Ability to write simple correspondence. Effectively able to present information and respond to questions from managers, supervisors, and other employees of the organization.
**MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:** Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Basic knowledge of determining angles is required in order to properly shear, perforate or form parts.
**REASONING ABILITY:** Ability to apply a common sense approach and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
**CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:** Fork lift and overhead crane training and certification required.
