Job Description:
As the Senior Buyer at Crescent Electric, you will be responsible for piloting different purchasing programs (new processes, buying strategies, expansion of commodity buying, specialization in customer segments, etc.). This will involve a balanced emphasis on increasing service levels to customers while achieving targets related to turnover of inventory in multiple locations and lowest total cost. PRIMARY DUTIES: Maintain a strong knowledge of supplier markets and build strong relationships with various disposition channels available to CESCO. Collaborates with management team to review appropriate inventory targets by category/item. Achieve established on-time service goals through effective management of inventory policies, practices and supplier management. Continuously measure key performance metrics to achieve scorecard objectives aimed at return on invested capital, service and balancing inventory investments and service goals. Pilot purchasing programs that may include new processes, buying strategies, expansion of commodity buying, specialization in customer segments, inventory planning, maintenance and procurement activities. Manage the day-to-day purchasing operations for assigned locations and/or products, including processing of user requisitions, research and selection of potential suppliers, negotiation of pricing and terms and issuance of purchase orders. Place, track, delegate the placing of, and expediting all purchase orders. Establish and execute the supplier roster as established by and in collaboration with Vice Presidents. Deploy the strategic plans with all core suppliers in partnership with leadership. Negotiate price, quality, service, payment terms, and returns of inactive material. Perform market analysis to identify supply/demand trends and opportunities. Maintain supplier costs and validation through EDI 855 information. Search for new products and seek to improve negotiations with vendors. Look for opportunities in vertical and horizontal markets. Gain market preferences through account manager discussions and district strategy planning process. Negotiate the return, or disposal, of all obsolete, overstocked, and slow moving products. SKILLS: Individual must possess strong, comprehensive computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook products). Must have ability to work quickly and accurately under time constraints and against deadlines. Interpersonal and organizational skills, be a self-starter, be detail oriented, influence and lead others, and have the ability to communicate (verbal and written). Must be able to functionally operate in Eclipse ERP and demonstrate the ability to change inventory profiles, manage min/max levels, monitor desired service rates, and pull reporting including but not limited to; service fill rate, stagnant inventory reporting. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree from four-year college or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid drivers license.
