Job Description:
Role: Database Administrator
Location: Johnson City, Texas
Contract: 6 months contract to hire
Industry: Utilities
Worksite: Hybrid. Tuesday and Thursday onsite
Rate: $70-80/hr.
Database Administrator Duties and Responsibilities:
Monitor database performance and resources to provide an appropriate level of service.
Configure systems and perform database refreshes as required to support development and operational environments.
Design, implement, test and monitor database backup and recovery procedures.
Design and implement systems which provide acceptable levels of service, availability and
security.
Maintain database security by maintaining user accounts with appropriate access roles.
Maintain database licenses, upgrades, and patches.
Assess and implement routine database maintenance as needed.
Implement a method of retaining and reporting on long-term database performance data.
Function as DBA resource for projects and implementations/conversions.
Assist in installation and maintenance of database
Effectively triage database issues to determine if vendor support is needed.
Provide after-hours support as needed.
Database Administrator Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Skilled in disaster recovery in both Microsoft SQL and Oracle database environments.
Skilled in one or more scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, Bash.
Skilled in administration tasks, procedures, and performance tuning.
Skilled in job creation, scheduling, and monitoring.
Skilled in handling multiple tasks, prioritizing and changing priorities.
Knowledge of modern database management and monitoring tools such as Toad, DBeaver, SolarWinds, Nagios.
Knowledge of one or more modern analytics platforms and supporting database technologies such as Power BI, Oracle Analytics Cloud, Amazon QuickSight, Azure Synapse, Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse, Amazon Redshift, Snowflake.
Knowledge of and experience with creating, supporting, and monitoring ETL jobs.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to set priorities.
Qualifications:
8 years of directly related work experience.
Bachelor s Degree in related field.
