This position is grant-funded through June 30, 2025.
Provides student advising and academic success coaching services, in multiple delivery modalities, while connecting students with necessary student and academic support services needed to promote successful college entry and progress towards program completion. This position will focus on serving students from underserved groups. This includes utilizing discretion and independent judgment to recruit, advise, and enroll high school students into Career and College Promise (CCP) programs while adhering to Administrative Code requirements for documentation and eligibility of dually enrolled students. This position will work to support underserved groups to successfully engage in their higher education experience, including but not limited to providing access to dual enrollment opportunities, assistance in navigating college accounts and processes, and providing access to student and academic supports through success coaching efforts.
Duties
1. Advises students at all A-B Tech locations, online and/or in-person, in program admissions processes, verification of program selection, including the college entry and selective/limited admission requirements and processes, accurate documentation, timely paperwork completion, and appropriate program advisor referral and scheduling.
2. Understands and interprets placement, college policies, procedures, and degree requirements, and refers students to college resources and services as necessary.
3. Provides success coaching for students, including those underserved in higher education, at the beginning of each term to facilitate a successful onboarding process and connection with the College.
4. Utilizes the retention management system and communicates with students and faculty to assist students with successful completion of course and degree requirements.
5. Compiles and collects data, sets up and maintains online and manual files; enters, modifies, and retrieves a variety of statistical data for special and regular reports. Reports data for grant reporting.
6. Communicates with students, with a focus on student underserved in higher education, at various momentum points connecting them with staff, faculty, and other resources to ensure progress towards program completion, including maintaining satisfactory academic progress for good academic standing and financial aid eligibility.
7. Serves as primary Career and College Promise (CCP) liaison for high schools as assigned, with a focus on increasing access for underserved students.
8. Advises and serves as a success advocate for CCP students, with a focus on career guidance through high school and assistance with transition from CCP to regular college admission.
9. Adheres to CCP Administrative Code for FTE compliance requirements and NCCCS system office enrollment eligibility criteria for dually enrolled students.
10. Participates in recruitment events and activities on and off campus throughout the academic year as needed.
11. Contributes and adheres to the College Vision, Mission including RISE principles, Values, and Foundational Focus Areas.
12. Supports workforce diversity in all its aspects.
13. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements (Applicant must meet all of the minimum requirements)
1. Bachelor's degree;
2. One year of full-time or equivalent experience working with students in advising, orientation, counseling, or a related area at the college or secondary school level;
3. One year of full-time or equivalent experience working with demographically diverse student populations.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Master's degree.
2. Three years of full-time or equivalent experience working in college advising or career services field at the college or secondary school level.
3. Experience with Colleague/Ellucian or other college information systems.
4. Proficiency in a foreign language such as Spanish, an East Slavic language, and/or American Sign Language.
