**Department Overview**
The Lending Support Specialist position is in Correspondent Lending and located in St. Louis, MO. Position is currently being worked remote, however may require a hybrid schedule in office, in the future. Position will work in Correspondent Lending, reviewing and analyzing mortgage loan documents received electronically. Utilizing PDF files and Excel reporting to extract data elements. Will work with varied loan documents depending on type of loan for review and permanent system storage.
**Job Description**
The Lending Support Specialist III performs various support functions for the Loan Processors in Residential Mortgage and Consumer Lending. This includes various requests from operations and business partners such as regulatory disclosures, as well as working daily and multi-daily reports. Acts as subject matter expert and is the first level of escalation.
**Requirements**
- Performs varied and complex administrative duties involved in checking and verifying files, work, and information submitted by others
- Ensures reviewed materials are accurate and complete
- Orders and reviews flood, title, and/or insurance
- Orders and/or reviews credit reports as well as verify Borrower identity
- Works daily reports directed by LOB within the departments service level agreement
- Makes higher level decisions, researches regulatory guidelines and makes recommendations accordingly
- Provides assistance to less experienced staff with problem resolution and provides guidance on regulations
- Provides assistance to manager with requests as needed and is the first level of escalation
- Acts as a subject matter expert, providing support and expertise to less experienced staff members
- Assists in testing new systems, system enhancements, and documentation software
- Follows-up on unresolved issues to ensure resolution
- Provides feedback to lending operations and business partners regarding regulatory guidelines, such as, RESPA, MDIA, and other items identified while working daily reports or internal mailbox
- Ensures own work is in compliance with applicable laws, regulations and guidelines, as detailed in policies located on Company intranet; policies included but not limited to Dodd Frank, RESPA, Fair Lending, Know Your Customer, Bank Secrecy Act and other applicable anti-money laundering policies
- Performs work that is typically within standard policies and procedures but could include required research
- Takes appropriate primary action and elevates files with concerns to supervisor or specific departments as appropriate, with analysis and recommendations for next steps
- May have contact with Customers, third party vendors, or other Employees to exchange or verify information or provide feedback
- Must be eligible for employment under regulatory standards applicable to the position.
**Qualifications**
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2-3 years related experience required
- Experience with and understanding of, Mortgage loan documentation preferred
- Prior lending operations experience preferred
- Experience with MS Excel preferred
- Knowledge of Company policy and applicable regulations
- Demonstrated ability to apply standardized sets of parameters to specific problems or files in order to facilitate resolution
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize activities based on business objectives
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to apply techniques to research and uncover questionable information in reviewed work
- Ability to resolve problems efficiently and tactfully with minimal coaching or direction
