Looking for adventurous Mechanical Engineers! You will get to build and fly very unique rockets with the team, where another "first ever" is around every corner! You will help the development of sophisticated avionics for a suite of ground-breaking systems capabilities for military and commercial NewSpace mission sets.On site in Presque Isle, ME. Relocation support available.Sponsored DOD Security Clearance providedRESPONSIBILITESConducting CFD simulations with the dual purpose of producing performance predictionsand incites, as well as validating the CFD codes with flight data, when availableAncillary processing required for CFD, e.g., gird generation, hand calculations, scripting, post-processing results and producing technical reports, which summarize and interpret the simulation resultsResearch into modern methodologies and analysis techniques in support of any other aspect of our work Reporting, at minimum of monthly updates, for any aspect of job responsibilitiesProviding engineering analysis, designs, recommendations and incites to further advance or progress active projectsProduce instrumentation recommendations, analysis, and experimental design to include test plans, procedures for systems, subsystem testing, and validationProvide programming support for CFD and other analysis, control systems, communication, data acquisition and text fixturesReview components, subsystems, and overall architecture for errors, opportunities, and improvementsEvaluate CFD toolsets, provide recommendations, and implement selected componentsData analysis - comparing and validating flight data to CFD resultsAssist with flights and testingDESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEB.S. in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology is desiredExperience with Solidworks/CAMworks+5 years of experienceThe position requires the ability to boundary span from conceptual design, analysis, process improvement, verbal communication, coordination, attention to detail, and judgement. Work with a fast-paced, cross-functional, highly collaborative engineering team to advance our unique suborbital and orbital launch systems. Experience in rocket motor and high-speed air-breathing engine R&D is highly desirable. Hands-on experience is essential.Strong leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively with an aggressive, multi-disciplinary team, and a "failure is not an option" mindset is sought.Ideal candidates for this position will possess excellent written and oral communication skills and the following key personality traits; assertiveness, open-mindedness, optimism, tough-mindedness, intrinsic motivation, social awareness, team orientation, strong intellect, and work ethic.
