Summary Statement
The Boise Depot is a beautiful historic Spanish-style structure operated by the Boise Parks and Recreation Department as a public ceremonial or meeting space and historic site and is home to the famous Platt Gardens ( .
Depot Protective Service Specialist:
+ Provides security services for scheduled events hosted at the Boise Depot.
+ Assists in maintaining a secure, safe environment for clients through enforcement of Depot rules and guidelines.
+ This position is open to all interested persons aged 19 and older.
+ This position is designated as At-Will.
Essential Functions
Promptly opens the facility for event setup, remains during, and closes the facility following the event. Circulates during the event and responds to questions by clients and guests, and provides assistance when requested. Operates Depot elevator. Provides surveillance of all Depot property and enforces rules and guidelines. Checks for Boise City Alcohol Catering Permit if alcohol is being served. Sets up stations for events using the patio and ensures Depot visitors do not enter private events. Secures property after the event and sets an alarm system. Events can last from two to twelve hours. (100%)

Requirements
Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training
Exercises good judgment in knowing when to act independently and when to consult supervisor; remain calm and use tact and diplomacy in dealing with disruptive people; to avoid confrontation when possible;
Communicates effectively verbally
Displays an attitude of cooperation and work harmoniously with all levels of city employees, the general public and other organizations
Communicates effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance
Completes assignments in a timely fashion
Understands and complies with all rules, policies and regulations
Maintains prompt and regular attendance
Performs all essential and marginal functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training
One year of experience as a security guard or similar duties. Strong interpersonal skills and experience, and knowledge of security procedures.
Special Requirements
Applicants must be able to pass:
City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation

This position works:
19-Hour Temporary
All temporary part-time employees working less than an average of 19-hours per week are not currently eligible for benefits.
4-Month Temporary
All 4-month temporary employees working an average of 40-hours per week will accrue personal leave which can be used during employment.
8-Month Seasonal
In addition to accruing personal leave, anyone in an 8-month seasonal position working over an average of 30-hours per week is eligible for medical coverage.
9-Month Temporary
In addition to personal leave accrual and medical coverage, a position that is classified as a 9-month temporary is eligible for PERSI retirement benefits.
