** TOOLS AND PARTS ATTENDANT**

The primary purpose of this position is to provide support to all applicable aircraft maintenance shops. This includes, but not limited to the accountability of all tools and equipment until returned and inspected. Also takes appropriate action to inspect, document, repair, manage resources, and document safety aspects as required by Air Force, OSHA and EPA regulations. **Location**

+ **Duties**
**Duty 1**
Performs duties associated with the Composite Tool Kit (CTK) program. Efficiently designs and builds CTKs to provide a specialized tool box for the user.
**Duty 2**
Performs complete supply support and tool accountability. Uses the Air Force supply system interface to research, process, receive, issue, inspect, document and turn-in assets
**Duty 3**
Performs a broad range of supply support duties. May be responsible for one or more of the following required programs for each section supported: Automated Data Processing Equipment (ADPE), Land Mobile Radios (LMR), Custodian Authorization/Custody Receipt Listing (CA/CRL) equipment accounts, Key Issue Logs, Safety Programs, Government Purchase Card (GPC) purchases, Hazardous Waste supplies to include Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Vehicle Control Officer, AFTO 244's or applicable electronic database, Precious Metals Recovery Program.
**Duty 4**
Performs a complete range of issue/turn-in duties for assigned items. Issues and inspects tools turned-in for damage and re-calibration requirements. Performs preventative maintenance on equipment per manufacture prescribed intervals.
**Duty 5**
Maintains catalogs and initiates replacement actions. Based on knowledge of common trade and shop jargon/names for stock/tools and/or general descriptions provided by customers, obtains information from catalogs to initiate orders.
**Duty 6**
Utilizes safety practices and procedures. Following established safety rules and regulations, maintains a safe and clean work environment. Uses and assures proper fit of required safety equipment and clothing. Operates equipment in a safe manner, applying established safety rules and regulations to minimize minor violations and to avoid major violations.

* Some night and/or weekend duty will be necessary to fulfill requirements. Shift work may also be required. Incumbent is also subject to call during non-duty hours to fulfill emergency requirements.
* Incumbent may also be required to work an uncommon shift while on duty. Incumbent may also be required to go TDY.
* Work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license is required for the position to operate government vehicles (i.e. vans and forklift).
* Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
* Position is designated Drug Testing per AFMAN 44-198
** Qualifications**
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
**QUALIFICATIONS:** Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-6900-Warehousing and Stock Handling Group, Materials Expediting. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of a TOOLS AND PARTS ATTENDANT without more than normal supervison.
**JOB ELEMENTS:** Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of a variety of tools and parts.
2. Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures related to the use of tools/equipment and storing various items, including hazardous materials.
3. Ability to the use tools/equipment; store various items; set up and maintain a neat, well organized, and secure storage area; receive, store, issue, and inventory parts, tools, and/or equipment; and maintain records using automated and/or mechanized systems without more than normal supervision.
4. Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc., from shop personnel and tools and parts catalogs.
5. Ability to inspect tools, parts, equipment, for visible damage and make determinations as to feasibility of repair.
6. Ability to suggest substitution of parts/tools when they are damaged beyond repair; determine causes of overages/shortages; determine need for calibration of tools; identify items by general descriptions from shop personnel, and setup and/or shift storage locations.
**Physical Effort**
Works on hard surfaces and in areas requiring standing, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and carries weights up to 10 pounds. May occasionally handle items weighing up to 40 pounds. May lift heavier items with weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers.
**Working Conditions**
Work is generally done in areas that are well lighted, heated, and ventilated. The attendant may occasionally work in areas that are drafty. The work is sometimes dirty, dusty, and greasy. The attendant is frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, and bruises.
**PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE:** Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
**VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE:** Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. **Education**
