In this role, you will work on web development projects involving Drupal, some WordPress, and PHP, reporting directly to the Web Developer III. Your primary responsibilities include contributing to the maintenance and enhancement of the university's website (Drupal) and providing support for other web projects. You will also have the opportunity to collaborate with our web developer student workers, fostering a collaborative and dynamic work environment. We encourage candidates to bring their passion for web development and the desire to explore both back-end and front-end technologies. JOB DESCRIPTIONDevelop and maintain websites using HTML/CSS/JavaScript/PHP.Write clean, well-organized, efficient, and fully documented code.Ensure code meets responsive coding standards for various devices.Evaluate code to ensure it is valid, properly structured, and meets industry standards.Ensure code compatibility with modern browsers and operating systems.As you progress in your role, you will have opportunities to work on projects involving the development of Drupal modules that enhance website functionality using PHP.Collaborate with web developer student workers to foster a collaborative and dynamic work environment.Participate in peer code reviews.Research and evaluate solutions and technologies to meet project requirements.Test features to ensure proper functionality.Write user and developer-facing documentation.Ensure websites comply with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).Update Drupal CMS content as needed.Troubleshoot website errors and issues.Other duties as necessary.Requirements:Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.1-3 years of experience preferred, but willingness to learn and adapt is essential.Backend web development experience with PHP and MySQL.Knowledge of CSS (Cascading Style Sheets), SCSS, HTML, JavaScript/jQuery.Strong understanding of the latest HTML and CSS standards & preprocessors, such as SCSS.Understanding of mobile and responsive web design.Familiarity with object-oriented PHP programming.Familiarity with code versioning and repositories (e.g., Git).Comfortable with reading API documentation.Understanding of agile development methodologies.Awareness of accessibility standards and best practices.Ability to work collaboratively and effectively within a team environment.An ability to take initiative and work with limited direction.Willingness to learn and adapt quickly.Willingness to embrace new technologies.Excellent time management, problem-solving, and communication skills.Team player.Great to have, yet not required:Experience with web content management systems such as Drupal or WordPress.Experience with continuous integration and deployment (e.g., GitLab).Experience with CSS Frameworks (e.g., Zurb Foundation, Bootstrap).Experience with cross-browser and cross-platform testing.Familiarity with the Laravel PHP framework.Salary: $57,000 - $61,000.
