Job Description:
General Function:Plans and performs inspections of residential and commercial buildings in the process of construction, alteration, or repair for compliance with applicable code requirements, application of safe construction practices, and other regulations or ordinances relating to safety, health, and welfare of the public. Manages the review of all building plans and the processing of building permits. Administers and enforces the city's building regulations in CMC Title 18. May supervise employees in building inspection, code enforcement and building permitting.Education and Experience:College course work in the basic principles of civil and mechanical engineering or building construction, five years experience as a building inspector, three years of supervisory experience or any combination of education and experience which provides the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge, and ability required to perform the job.Certification by I.C.B.O. for building inspections must be obtained within one year of employment. Must be certified by I.C.C. as a residential and commercial building inspector at time of hire.Valid Washington State driver's license is required with acceptable driving record. Possession of or the ability to obtain, and maintain throughout employment, a valid Washington State driver's license with acceptable driving record.
