This is a Full time day shift MT/MLS Lead position at Northwest Medical Center. This is a generalist position that rotates through blood bank, chemistry & hematology. Will also be responsible for additional duties including billing and compliance.
Position Purpose:
Performs moderate and high complexity tests and leads the work of others in the clinical laboratory. Ensures that all tests are performed within turnaround time limits with review of pending logs and stat boards to maintain compliance. Demonstrates competency in all necessary hospital and LIS modules/functions. Ensures that specimens are appropriate for test methodologies. Documents all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and maintenance performed. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks as assigned by the manager, including daily billing reconciliation, chemical inventory and compliance. Reports to manager or director. Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the laboratory medicine field is expected. Blood bank experience is a plus. Must have hospital clinical laboratory experience.
Position Qualifications/Minimum Requirements
Education: "Required: Associate of Science degree or experience, education or other parameters that meet CLIA Federal Register requirement
Preferred: Bachelor of Science; MT/MLS through recognized certification agency such as ASCP or AMT with experience and examination."
Experience: Required: Two (2) years of experience in a clinical laboratory.
Skills: Ability to read, communicate, and document effectively through oral, written, or electronic means. Excellent skills in customer relations. Demonstrates the constant ability to prioritize and respond promptly to a changing workload. Ability to respond to multiple situations and questions that require sound judgments and action for quality patient care.
Licenses/Certifications: "Required:
American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross(ARC) or American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) BLS
Preferred: American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), or American Medical Technologists (AMT), or American Association of Bioanalysts (AAB)."
