Orlando Health's Office of Grants Management is seeking a qualified Accountant.

Essential Functions
Maintains complete and organized work papers used to support accounting estimates and transactions and provides these as needed to external auditors to facilitate the completion of audited financial statements, as well as interim stub statements for bond offerings. Coordinates all aspects of preparing material required for annual and interim audits. Provides detailed explanations to auditors for unusual activity and variances. Develops efficient methods of preparing analyses, journal entries, estimate calculations, closing procedures, reconciliations and other processes, particularly where large volumes of information must be summarized or reduced from large databases. Demonstrates and maintains a thorough and updated knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and Orlando Health accounting and financial reporting policies and procedures. Uses professional judgment in determining the proper accounting treatment for unusual transactions. Instructs and educates Orlando Health management and other Orlando Health personnel in such accounting policies as necessary. Maintains basic knowledge of not-for-profit and hospital accounting practices in accordance with AICPA audit guides, arbitrage rebate regulations, tax-exempt financing regulations, and debt covenants affecting Orlando Health. Investigates general ledger system and report generation problems and takes corrective action to minimize errors and downtime. Advises user departments on the accounting issues associated with the development of new departments and processes and acts as general ledger consultant in dealings with user departments. Prepares specialized reports through queries of a variety of databases, standard reports for use by management and the Finance department, and surveys from entities outside of Orlando Health. Provides necessary information to other departments used in the preparation of regulatory reporting. Acts as accounting liaison to assigned departments or affiliates. Reconciles assigned accounts and inter-company accounts on a timely basis. Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards. Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions Special projects as needed. Available to both operational and overhead departments for coordination of financial reporting, journal entry processing, internal control analysis and process improvement.
Education/TrainingBachelors degree in Accounting, finance or business field required.
Experience
Two (2) years experience in accounting required. General knowledge of word processing and database software. Must have proficiency in spreadsheet software applications. A masters degree in Accounting or related field may substitute for up to two (2) years of the required experience. The completion of a successful internship in the Finance department may also substitute for up to two (2) years of the required experience.
