Job Description:
Responsibilities: Utilize mandatory knowledge and skills in medical coding and auditing. Demonstrate excellent computer and communication skills to interact effectively with providers and staff. Possess comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and disease processes, along with proficiency in medical terminology and coding guidelines (Outpatient and ambulatory surgery). Understand documentation requirements, medication familiarity, and reimbursement guidelines. Experience with encoder software. Manage multiple projects efficiently, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines effectively. Requirements: Education/Certification: Preferred certifications include Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Outpatient Coder (COC), Certified Coder Specialist (CCS), or Certified Coder Specialist - Physician (CCS-P). Minimum five (5) years of medical coding and/or auditing experience in two (2) or more medical, surgical, and ancillary specialties within the past 10 years; or minimum three (3) years of relevant experience if within an MTF. Associate's degree or higher in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or related field; or equivalent certifications or coursework. Successful completion of relevant coursework such as anatomy/physiology, medical terminology, health information management, and pharmacology, or completion of AAPC or AHIMA coding certification preparation courses. Experience: Minimum four (4) years of medical coding and/or auditing experience in multiple specialties within the past 10 years; or minimum two (2) years of experience if within an MTF. Unique Military Health Care Systems/Procedures: Familiarity with MHS GENESIS and other electronic medical record documentation systems. Knowledge of Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) and military filing systems. Understanding of military medical record contents, layout, and tracking procedures. Proficiency in client-server versions of Clinical Information Systems (CIS) and coding compliance editor (CCE) systems. Experience with Biometric Data Quality Assurance Service (BDQAS). Adherence to MHS Coding Guidelines. Employment Type: Full-Time Salary: $ 24.00 26.00 Per Hour
