Customer Success - Optical Engineer - Illumination

Synopsys Optical Solutions is looking for an optical engineer to work in the Customer Success group to give technical outreach and other technical content to customers and prospective customers. This job opening is for aiding the LucidShape line of products. The product line includes LucidShape, LucidShape on CATIA, and LucidDrive, hereafter referred to collectively as LucidShape. LucidShape is a well-established and widely used suite of optical design software used in the design of advanced automotive exterior lighting such as headlights, daytime running lights and taillights.

The applicant should:

• Have skill in the use of advanced illumination design tools (LucidShape preferred)
• Have a passion for helping engineers with diverse experience to solve their most challenging problems
• Have a passion for communicating technical information in a variety of formats
• Be able to comprehend about illumination engineering issues associated with new and advancing technology applications
• Be able to communicate complex problems quickly and accurately

The primary responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

• Help Optical Solutions customers and prospective customers with a variety of technical issues over email, web meeting, and face-to-face
• Develop technical materials in various formats, including training sessions, webinars, user group meetings, customer meetings, written articles, and video
• Conduct customer tours to visit existing customers and prospects, primarily in North America
• Attend trade shows to help in staffing the company booth and interacting with current and prospective customers

The applicant should have the following qualifications:

• A proven track record of working with illumination systems modeling, evaluation or design using commercial illumination design tools
• Excellent written, presentation, and verbal skills with the ability to communicate and teach technical information to large and small groups concisely and effectively
• A Bachelors, Masters, or Ph.D. in optics or related field
• Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting and organizational skills
• Ability to grasp and use LucidShape with mastery
• Ability to work on concurrent projects
• Ability to work in a team and autonomously
• Willingness for domestic and occasional international travel. Travel is anticipated 10-20% of the time

The following qualifications are a plus:

• Experience in the automotive lighting industry
• Experience with LucidShape
• Experience with CATIA
• Located around Detroit, MI, USA

"The base salary range across the U.S. for this role is between $106,000 - $185,000 . In addition, this role may be eligible for an annual bonus, equity, and other discretionary bonuses.
